Weekend Music – Fear Like Us

Fear Like Us are a big part of the Australian punk/folk punk scene, forming over a decade ago, this sometimes Newcastle/Melbourne band can be found regularly touring but not really releasing a lot of music.

I can’t remember when I first saw them but I had a great time and bought a tshirt. One time at a bar a guy saw my tshirt and was really stoked and he gave me a high five – he may have been in the band? I don’t know. Either way, the first song below might be my favourite Australian song of all time. That’s a pretty big call but it’s a pretty great song called “Scars are Tattoos With Better Stories” – so if you aren’t already convinced to listen to it, then I can’t help you.

The second song (from the same album) is an introspective musing on Australia, just in time for Australia Day.

Anyway, they are out and about touring soon, and you would be doing a pretty rubbish job if you didn’t at least go see them once in your life.  The whole album is pretty brilliant too. Go find a copy or get it off their bandcamp: https://poisoncityrecords.bandcamp.com/album/fear-like-us (it’s also on Spotify).
